Blog #8

Richard Miller created two video's to show the uses of technology in the Humanities. The first video he shows how he was able to create a paper on the Virgina Tech shooting without going to a library or buying a book. He was able to go onto the internet and find what he needed. In the second video, Richard Miller shows how technology is constantly being changed and updated. He shows how efficient it is to use technology correctly. He also talked about converging Humanities with the sciences. He believes it would be great if they did come together because everything would go better and faster.

I think the primary message of the two video's is that technology is something you have to learn hands on. It is something that is hard to teach and is easier to learn by trial and error.

http://www.whiteboardblog.co.uk/2009/07/20-interactive-whiteboard-resources-for-teachers/ was a site that supported smart boards. They should how smart boards could be used in ways that a normal board could not. A smart board is more interactive than a regular projector or chalkboard. In the other postings, they complained that smart boards are not much different than regular white boards.

  1. You missed the central point of both of the EDM310 movies. Did you really watch them? I wonder given what you wrote!

  2. Well, what did Dr. Miller have to say about the profound changes that are happening in communication. The most profound ever I think he said.

The EDM310 video may have suggested that hands on learning was the most important, but it appears to me that you missed the major points f the videos - by a wide margin. Watch them again and see if you can spot other arguments being made.

Where do you stand on the smart board debate?
